Getting The Best Results with Fotopic's Products

Here at the Fotopic Printshop we get a variety of different images sent for printing - but sadly, some images we receive are of poor quality and don't really lend themselves to print work. Here follow the golden rules for sending excellent images to be printed!

Resolution, Ratio and Image Size

You should always send the highest quality images you can find. This means uploading full-quality images, in a ratio which will lend themselves well to the prints. For instance, it's no use sending us a print which is 10 times as long as high, for a 6x4" print! While our system will warn you if it's not of sufficient quality and ratio you're advised to modify the image yourself if you encounter such problems.

A good rule of thumb is that the image should no less than 150 pixels per inch - this means that for a 6x4" image, the resolution should be no less than 900x600px. Ideally, an image should be 250dpi or above.

Image Backgrounds and Logos

If you're planning on sending us logos to print, make sure they have a white background - most of our transfer mechanisms work on the basis that white = clear (the only exception being black t-shirts).

In the case where logos are uncomplicated and consist of only a few colours, you may wish to send us a GIF or PNG file instead to minimise "noise" on the image. Our workshop staff will be only too happy to advise you on what works and what doesn't - drop us a line if you have any queries.
